I was recruited for a particular event, the Euro 2020, so as my internship was depended on many external factors each day was different. But I usually started by doing a note of the news, trends of the day on each platform (TikTok / Instagram / Twitter..). The rest of the day was more devoted to preparing for the day's matches, creating assets.. Other missions were also sometimes added, such as translating and copywriting videos related to the events, preparing Ed Sheeran's performance for the TikTok UEFA Euro show. The missions were really diverse and varied, everyday was different and challenging.
I learnt a lot of new skills, I really grew as a person during this internship. TikTok really is the most popular platform at the moment so this opportunity has allowed me to develop my spirit of initiative, my corporate culture and my autonomy, as well as to work on the various facets of the sports-specific marketing. I worked with people that despite their much greater experience than me were listening to me and my ideas, so that has also helped me a lot to gain confidence and develop new skills.
Like I said in a previous question, my voice and my ideas were taken into account. To be honest at the beginning I thought I would do the boring work, not the coffee or or the photocopies as we were working from home but something like that but it has never been the case. I have been given access to a lot of information and platforms, taught a lot of difference things (such as how to work with the algorithm and highlight certain TikTok to make them more popular). I would say having this kind of responsibility and being really taken seriously made this experience even better.
I always had someone to talk to, in addition to the recruitment managers who were always there for me from the start I have been given 2 mentors/tutors who were part of team I was working in to support me. The platform we were using to talk and work was also very convenient and easy to use you could find everything on it, so it was easy to reach people if you needed help or just someone to talk.
As I said at first I was a bit scared about what was internship going to look like. TikTok is super popular, the application is successful and is constantly expanding, but you never know how it is in the inside. Hopefully, I did not have to worry, everyone welcomed me with open arms. After only one week, I felt like working here for years.
I often refer to this experience as the best of my life, and I am really not saying that to spruce things up and give TikTok good publicity. I enjoyed it from the first to the last minutes, it was intense and I worked a lot but at the same time it was super rewarding professionally and personally. As I said I learnt a lot of new skills but I also develop as a person.
Yes
Be ready to work a lot but I swear it worths it. Make the most of your time there and try to enjoy every moment because everything is moving very quickly on the Internet. Also be open minded, try to contact and talk to the most people you can, they could be helpful to you one day. Don't be scare to ask for help or anything, people will help you. Do not be afraid to share your opinions, no one will judge you
