  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • In Sales, it was my job to call clients about different functionalities on the Bloomberg Terminal. Our aim was to ensure clients were getting the most out of their Terminal, and ensuring our clients had an overall positive experience of usage. In Analytics, we had lots of classroom-style learning sessions, product deployment calls, and training on how to answer client helpdesk queries.


  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I learned about financial markets and understood enough to be able to create a presentation on alternative investment, to do calling campaigns and answer phantom chats on technicalities I previously had absolutely no knowledge on, and to keep up with the sheer volume of information taught on market player types and their needs within the Terminal. Also, I learnt how to ask for help. Without this skill, the above would not have been possible.

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes. We were given the opportunity to speak to clients from the second week of work, which was so exciting. We were definitely thrown in at the deep end, but we were given so much support throughout that it felt like we were never out of our depths.
