    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role consisted of operational work, communications, event management, running the NPS Programme and leadership support tasks. On a day to day basis no day saw the same tasks which made it an exciting and fun role to be in. You have to be responsive and flexible to the tasks set by leadership.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt multiple new skills throughout my year. IBM has great learning resources available to all of its employees. My role has strengthened my skills in communication, resilience, teamwork, flexibility and self motivation ( as you are provided freedom of choice in your role). I have also developed skills in courses such as: - block chain - agile thinking - design thinking - organisational operations and structuring.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes you are provided with a great amount of responsibility and treated as a true member of the team. This was one of my favourite parts of the role. Often you would act as project manager/lead and lead others. You were also consulted on your viewpoint continually by senior employees allowing you to add true value.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • In a online placement this was a concern of mine however both my managers provided continued support throughout. This could be in the form of advice, courses, training, mentoring etc. I was also provided a handover at the start of my placement were I was taught my role for 6 weeks by my predecessor which was very valuable.
