Overview
During my time on the virtual work experience, I spent the day doing a variety of activities. We had ice breaker sessions where I met with other students on the programme, and we had time to network with solicitors about their daily work and what CMS is like. We also completed a business simulation which I throughly enjoyed as we got to see the consequences of the decisions we made as a team.
Skills
I have developed my team working skills as we were put with a team each day to work on the Business simulation. We learnt to work with each others strengths and weaknesses this way.
Business Insight
It was interesting as it helped me to understand that there are multiple ways to achieve a career in law, and not just one direct route.
Culture
It was very friendly and each of the Solicitors I spoke to made me feel valued in questions I asked. I was treated as an equal, and given detailed responses.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend the experience to all aspiring commercial solicitors.
Yes
I would tell them to research the law firm well, as each firm has its own unique culture and values.
