    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

    • Over the course of three days, we attended various talks on the legal industry and the firm specifically. These included trainee insights, an overview of the firm's employee networks, a session on DLA Piper's pro bono practice and more. We were also given a series of tasks to complete in our own time which simulated the work done by trainees at the firm.

    • I gained and developed very useful skills such as commercial research, contract drafting, risk evaluation, client communication, commercial advice and email drafting.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

    • It was really interesting to learn about the various practices and sectors you could get involved in and I particularly liked the firm's focus on 'extracurrciular' pursuits such as pro bono work, mentorship and more.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

    • The firm's representatives were incredibly welcoming and friendly, putting me immediately at ease. There was a real feeling of camaraderie and it felt like a close-knit community (despite the firm's large size).

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

    • I really enjoyed the blend of work we were exposed to and appreciated the friendliness and support shown by the team. I would recommend this programme to anyone considering or wanting to learn more about the legal industry. The training offered is unparalleled by any other insight scheme I've been on and I would be thrilled to go back.

    • Find a business sector that interests you and read up on it. The firm is looking for passion and a diversity of experiences and are genuinely interested in learning about you. You can have really interesting discussions with the team on your interests.
