Overview
On a day-to-day basis we attended talks, questions and answer sessions with members of Teach First staff and ambassadors and completed really fun activities such as a debate, problem-solving activity and taught a mini lesson.
Skills
The top two skills I developed over the course of this insight experience were better self reflection and communication skills. This is because Teach First gave us an abundant amount of opportunities to network and meet new people who were also attending the programme. Additionally, Teach first continually encouraged us to reflect on what we had done and skills we developed after activities, with a session devoted to this at the very beginning of the programme and very end.
Business Insight
This is the only area they could have done better in. They were really good in explaining what schemes and opportunities they had available, but didn't provide a clear answer on the application timeline for their Training programme and weren't particularly clear on the requirements for the programme. Ultimately, the whole Training programme process wasn't made that understandable.
Culture
Very friendly and very helpful. Also very professional as they would always be punctual and thus the session ran smoothly and didn't seem unstructured and chaotic.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight very much. I would recommend it to others and if I had to do it again I would.
Yes
Be yourself, be passionate and research the company before applying.
