Overview
The two-day experience was a tightly-packed insight into both the Teach First Graduate Program and Teaching as a whole. There were plenty of opportunities to ask questions on a multitude of relevant areas and the team was very friendly. The main task was the chance to teach an 8 minute lesson on a topic of our choice, I thought it was a great challenge and a new experience.
Skills
I am comfortable in saying that I know at least the foundations of what makes a successful lesson, and the societal issue of educational inequality in the UK. I have developed my presentation skills and my ability to interact with newly-met individuals.
Business Insight
The information given regarding future potential roles was detailed and extensive, overall it provided a tangible grasp on how I could pursue teaching and the graduate placement in my later years of university.
Culture
The atmosphere was effective given the virtual nature (COVID landscape) of the taster. It ran smoothly and all of the Teach First team were really approachable.
Your Impressions
I found it very valuable and rewarding, and would say it was very enjoyable overall.
Yes
Obviously, be honest. Speak about your views with candour and decide whether you align yourself along with the motivation and aim of Teach First, that will go a long way in the application process and your overall enjoyment of the taster.
