    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • Thoroughly enjoyed it. Best work experience I have ever done and it being virtual because of covid did not get in the way of that at all.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Despite the huge number of people in the zoom call, the constant break out rooms with the workers at teach first allowed for me to feel welcome and valued.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • Very helpful. Made it clear that they were always there to help us and all my questions were answered

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • In terms of how the experience helped me, I think it has been really beneficial because of the amount of self evaluation involved in this experience. I was made aware of my weakest skills and definitely took away practical ways to strengthen it. This has been useful for my degree because I can apply it to seminars in which my weakness hindered my participation.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • Extremely well structured and every single session gave us enough time to cover what was needed. We were also well informed of the timetable which helped.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • Great atmosphere. Very welcoming and so different to that awkward zoom classroom environment.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The companies values were very clear and this reflected in the activities we did which helped us in our own self development. We had a little session where we presented a lesson to the other peers in our zoom room. I think this is a great example of how the company invested in us because they gave feedback to each of our presentations and it was thoughtful and helpful information which helped me evaluate on my skills.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Very informative as I have explored in my other answers. In situations where questions arose, they were answered to a more than satisfactory standard. Before I started I had no interest or very little interest in pursuing a full time role with the company and i think that was because of my lack of knowledge/ The experience certainly enhanced my understanding around what it involved and now i am interested in applying for a future role with them.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Very much - I have stated how they made their key values key at the start and throughout the session - and we had to implement them.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Very very helpful - before it was just a little idea but now Im very invested in this as a possible career and definitely want to apply to their next stem trainee session. As i said before this i did not think teaching was something i wanted to pursue and i even lacked knowledge around it. I think this also helped me recognise why i am interested in things like human rights as a possible career path.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes we had a little opportunities fair - very interesting and informative

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Honestly amazing- all the workers were so nice and we also had a little Christmas quiz which was fun. It was a nice moment of relaxation especially after the long hours on zoom. i think it being on the first day was great because it gave us a chance to meet other people. Another cool thing about it was that we were put into groups with people similar or close to us so we could talk about that to break the ice.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes - we spoke to people who had left teach-first but still felt a connection for the company

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • I definitely would recommend this even if you are not interested in teaching there are a lot of skills which can be taken away from this. It definitely helped clarify why I am interested in human rights, education, nGOS charity work etc. I think my answers show it was a great experience and with it being online I did not expect it to be so great but I 100% recommend this programme to anyone thinking about it.
