    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the virtual experience?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Accenture. Initially, I was nervous because I had never attended a virtual experience, but the team did a fantastic job at organising a very insightful and fun 3 weeks! We had the opportunity to meet people from the industry who did a great job at explaining their duties and how their roles fit into the wider team. They were extremely helpful and gave us their contact details so we could arrange to contact them individually if we wanted more information around a specific area. The team also organised some fun socials, so all the interns could meet “virtually” and have some fun!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued as an individual. The company accommodate to everyone’s individual needs and that’s something I haven’t experienced elsewhere. I also believe that my efforts and contributions towards tasks was appreciated by team members, my mentor and the client (which is a big deal!). I found that it was very easy to be myself and express any concerns, which were dealt with almost immediately! Overall, it was lovely to feel valued constantly by different members of the company.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the virtual experience?
  • There was guidance literally every step of the way. In the initial few days, the HR team were with us in all sessions ensuring everything ran smoothly. After the 3 day introduction, they were still available to deal with any concerns immediately. It was easy to contact them through teams, email or telephone. They were very efficient at dealing with queries/concerns. In terms of my team project, we were given a mentor who was very supportive. He met with us according to our times and provided us with constructive and tailored support that allowed us to improve our proposals and final presentations.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills will help me with final year of university because firstly I now know how to operate online and as university is all virtual, it was good to get a head start and I now know what to expect. In terms of collaborating with others in projects, I will be able to take this back to university and apply it to modules where I will be required to do group projects. The communication skills are something that I will be able to use at university and beyond as it is transferable and necessary in literally every aspect of life.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the virtual experience?
  • It was very well structured. The HR team put together an extremely well thought out and engaging 3 week virtual experience. We had clear direction of what was happening and when. There was good use of Teams and Outlook to inform us. We were called regularly before the virtual experience and the HR team kept up to date with what to expect (and it was definitely above my expectations)! Even the fun team building sessions were planned in advance and they were amazing!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your virtual experience?
  • The general atmosphere was positive. At the beginning I guess everyone was shy, nervous or quiet as we didn’t know how everything was going to go (especially with things being virtual). However, the daily ice breakers and weekly socials really brought the group of interns together and I believe we all integrated well! After the first few days, everyone was speaking in meetings (with their camera on) and I believe people felt comfortable. By the end of the virtual experience some of us couldn’t keep quiet. Overall, it was great!

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were made to do all mandatory training that was expected of any graduate or direct entry level colleague. This was good as I felt that they really treated us as one of their own and not just “interns”. In terms of development, we were given access to and allowed to use all the resources and links available to employees, which again, was super helpful, especially when researching for our projects and putting together a coherent structure for the client.

  • 8. To what extent did the virtual experience help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I have previously worked for Accenture before, so to be back, virtually, I wasn’t sure how it would be. However, I feel that they did an amazing job at bringing all the different areas of the company together through the “spotlight” sessions, which gave the interns a good idea of what to expect if they were to come back. Of course some things have changed, but overall it was clear to understand what kind of roles I would be carrying out, what stream I would be in, what projects I could be allocated, etc.

  • 9. How much did the virtual experience help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Having worked at Accenture before, I was aware of the friendly and supportive culture. However, the virtual experience did a great job of bringing the culture to life as much as they could virtually. This was due to the spotlight sessions, ACG sessions, getting to know sessions, having buddies and mentors - meeting so many people from the business allowed the interns to connect and gain an understanding of the culture. It really hasn’t changed and that’s what I love!

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content from all the sessions arranged (e.g. spotlight sessions) was really helpful. Again, having worked before, things have changed, but it was easy to understand how things operate now and for the most part, it’s the same! This really reinforced my decision on wanting to return to Accenture in the future. It’s a great company with strong values and amazing people. The people really do make up the company and that’s the best thing about it!!!

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • This was a great addition to the experience gained.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes - as mentioned previously, there were many sessions arranged by the HR team, where we met other employees. These employees were happy to share their experiences and knowledge but they also shared their email, so we could contact them individually for specific information. This is what I loved! Everyone was so helpful. There was also time to network with employees through company wide events and again, everyone was extremely welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, once again, the people really make the company!

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The opportunities were really useful. Each individual employee brings something new and different to the table. No two colleagues were the same and knowing this was great! I learnt something new from every employee and it’s so refreshing to know that each employee really has a niche that they’re really good at and have knowledge in. I would really recommend all individuals to attend networking socials/events as they’ll meet such supportive, friendly and knowledgeable individuals - not forgetting, that they themselves can also bring something unique to the table.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • The amount of activities that Accenture have outside of work ... amazing! They have such a variety of societies to meet the individual needs of every single individual. I’d be very surprised if an employee was unable to find a society that represented his needs/wants. In addition to the societies, there is a Yammer page which again consists of a variety of societies and it connects employees from all over the globe! These societies can include “photography, bowling, music”. It’s just so cool!

  • 15. Would you recommend this virtual experience to a friend?
  • I would 100% recommend this virtual experience to a friend. Firstly, I’d recommend the company hands down!!! Secondly, I’d recommend the virtual experience for so many reasons: 1) the people you meet (colleagues and interns) are so great 2) the knowledge you learn and the company, the roles, the projects - amazing 3) the skills you gain (especially virtually) I don’t think I could stop talking to my friends about the experience (on a daily basis) and it made them want to do it! I would recommend Accenture to anyone looking to start a career in consulting.
