    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I enjoyed the insight greatly. All the staff were lovely and friendly, as were the other participants. The activites were mostly engaging and fun, and there were lots of fun icebreakers to get to know the other participants. The time went very quickly, and I enjoyed it all a lot.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The team really took an interest in our personal development. They gave us feedback throughout (both positive and constructive) and also asked us for lots of feedback afterwards. They were also very excited to have us on the scheme, and made us feel like we were doing something very important.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I feel like I received a lot of guidance and support. Lots of verbal feedback was offered to me, and we were given a booklet as a prompt to help in sessions. All the staff were very accomodating and happy to answer any questions and give you more support if you needed it.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There were opportunities to do some public speaking, but obviously this was time-limited. Whilst I found the insight useful from a future-careers point of view, I don't think I got the opportunity to develop many skills which will be transferable to my degree (which maonly consists of reading and writing essays).

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was a busy programme, but there were also lots of breaks so I was able to remain focused throughout. The day didn't start too early, allowing ample time to travel to the insight, or finish too late. The programmes were also very diverse, so it didn't feel too repetitive.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a very positive and welcoming atmosphere, and you got a sense that both the facilitators and participants were having a good time and bouncing off each other. Everyone mixed with each other a lot and made an effort to get to know the other participants which was also nice.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Everyone at Teach First was very friendly and welcoming so the insight definitely gave me the impression that the company culture is very positive. All were very enthusiastic about what they do and eager to share information about Teach First's mission to reduce educational inequality, which they all seem very committed to.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The insight has definitely made me consider teaching as an option for the future, so in that sense it was helpful. That said, there's a limit to what can be achieved in two days and it wasn't enough to convince me that teahcing is definitely what I want to do.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was reimbursed expenses (travel) very quickly.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We met lots of Teach First staff over the course of the 2 days, all of whom were really friendly and approachable. Various staff members led sessions, and there was also a 'fair' which was an hour-long opportunity to speak to some other staff that we hadn't met and put questions to them.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were lots of icebreakers and a good amoutn of time to mix with the other participants and get to know lots of other people. The groups were continually mixed up for the activities. They also took us out for dinner one evening which was another great opportunity to get to know people.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, if they are considering teaching wanted to get a taster of what Teach First do and what their programme consists of. I would warn that the taster programme is unlikely to make anyoen certain that this is what they want to do, as there's a limit to how much can be gained in just two days.
