    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement at Willis Towers Watson. I felt I gained an insight into the company as a whole and it gave my a first hand experience of the culture within the company. I really enjoyed the variety of work I was able to get involved in ranging for a group project work with peer interns to individual activities.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt the work I was asked to complete had a direct impact on the work being completed in my team. I was also given the opportunity to help with new initiatives that the company was working on. The group project which we completed with fellow interns was really interested and it was clear it would be used in the future.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given a lot of support from my manager when asked. People were always available and willing to answer any questions that I had. I also felt that I could ask any question regardless of how basis it maybe. There is also a grad buddy system which meant any questions that you did not feel comfortable asking your manager could be directed to them.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy on a daily basis. My daily activities ranged from insight talks, networking meeting and work set by my manager. A lot of the work I was involved in related to research for my specific department so this kept me very busy as I want it to be as precise as possible.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was not given a large amount of responsibility but I was expected to complete my work to given deadlines and to a certain standard. Overall i think my manager was confident in m doing work to a certain standard for other colleges so in this way i was given responsibility.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think I developed skills such as time management, team work, presentation skills, report writing & networking skills. I also developed knowledge about working in the corporate world which I feel has given me confidence in speaking to new people. We received a training for presenting which i think will be really beneficial for my degree.
