The Role
It was hugely challenging and we worked very hard, but ultimately very rewarding.
Being an American company, it was characterized by the feel of a big family with everyone helping each other out and being supportive of one another.
There was a great support network from our managers. We had day-to-day help from experienced sales people, we had weekly support from regional management and monthly support from director level.
We were always incredibly busy with tough targets and a gruelling schedule.
We were in charge of running our own business so the responsibility we took on was enormous. It really helped you to develop your entrepreneurial skills and motivation.
Execllent value in terms of life skills. Persistance, determination, team work, self motivation, time and money management - all things you had to stay on top of during the summer and skills to take with you for the rest of your career.
The Company
Although we weren't usually based in an office since we were mostly in the field, the team atmosphere was excellent and when we were all together for meetings we had a lot of fun and competition!
The internship programme has been running for over 150 years so they have got the infrastructure worked out well.
There was a high degree of training with over 80 hours of sales and business management training.

I joined their graduate management programme after completing the summer internship.
The Culture
The social scene at company meetings and events and holidays was brilliant.
We negotiated deals with the help of the company to stay in the areas we were working for very cheap.
Limited most of the summer period by work schedule, but at the end of the summer it was amazing!
Only opportunities for other activities on the weekend.
