    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone. At times it was tough, but it was so rewarding. Met some awesome people and felt great for doing it.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Colleagues were great. Really fun, sociable kids who were motivated and positive.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was very helpful. I felt very comfortable asking questions, asking for support and guidance, and even venting to him. Staff and Management of the company were approachable, intelligent and experienced. Very capable and welcoming.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We were very busy and worked hard. But this was something that we take pride in and is part of the job.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A decent amount but nothing overwhelming. Just basic independence and responsibility, nothing too extreme. Second year dealers will take on more responsibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Without a doubt, what I learned over the summer are skills for life. I learned how to self-motivate, work hard, be committed and determined, how to run a business, how to sell, how to read people, how to deal with adversity, how to stay positive and enthusiastic.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Great! Really enthusiastic people, very kind and fun.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very clear organizational vision, and good schedule. The company has been in business for over 150 years and knows how to run and organize itself very well.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was a 6 day sales school provided free of charge, and nightly phone coaching.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I am continuing to work for the company this year and next summer. If you do well and enjoy your first summer you are invited to work again for the company, or with any of its subsidiaries.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Really fun vibe from everyone. We are all college students so of course we like to socialize and party!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • We didn't go out too much during the summer, but living was cheap. Staying with host families made rent very inexpensive, and we spent maybe $200 per week, total. Very good.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Really great when we travel, and especially where we live in Edinburgh.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes, definitely on Sundays. We went horseback riding, talked with a gold medal olympian, went to the beach, went hiking, white water rafting and tons of other activities!

    4/5
