    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The whole team is really friendly and welcoming. The training is thorough and the work is challenging and diverse.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued and I felt my work was making a difference, we had to present about a client at the end of the internship and lots of colleagues came to hear what we had to say. The study package for grads is very good too so they obviously value us.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Lots of support, before each new task we'd be talked through and was easy to go back and ask more questions. We were given feedback regularly and opportunity to work on our points of feedback. Often when I asked for help it was met with enthusiasm and colleagues would see to it that I was helped to a solution.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy, all but one day in my first week I was jam packed all day and not bored at all. We had a good amount to do and people were good at not dumping too much on us last minute. They made sure we didn't get too swamped though and made sure we left at 5pm where possible which was great.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • We were given lots of responsibility in terms of client work but obviously due to the nature of Actuarial work our work had to be checked at least twice before going to the client.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills were massively valuable. learning to be sharp and critical in my thinking as well as maintaining a professional working relationship with people has been extremely useful for my personal relationships and in how I'm looking to approach uni work for 3rd year. Lots of technical skills to learn too and I've definitely developed my skills here a lot.
