Yes, the placement provided me with the opportunity to talk to a variety of lawyers of different levels and from different sectors and to participate in a number of different tasks which I felt to be a benefit to me.
I was made to feel very welcome at the firm. As well as being appointed a trainee buddy to specifically provide support and a friendly point of call in the office, I felt able to ask questions of everybody around me. I was also provided with valuable feedback and made to feel that the work I provided was adding some value to the team.
I had regular meetings with my supervisor where we set objectives and reviewed whether these had been met at the end of the week. I was also given guidance and support whenever I needed to ask a question about a system or a IT issue.
The information I have received has altered my choices in terms of my future career path and has broadened my understanding about the types of career path which are available and that I want to pursue.
The induction day was very well structured with a mixture of talks and networking events which I thought was very good. The rest of the vac scheme was determined by what work was available within the team but there was an overarching framework worked out between myself and my supervisor in terms of objectives to achieve by the end of the placement.
The general atmosphere was very positive - everybody was very generous with their time and very friendly.
I was able to join two training sessions which were open to the litigation team in general - one on health and safety law and another on privilege and confidentiality. These I found to be very interesting and insightful.
I felt that I was embedded in the team and with the opportunities available to talk to various people throughout the firm has really helped me get to grips with what it would be like to work full time with this firm.
The insight helped me understand a lot about the company's culture because I was embedded within and made to feel a part of the team.
Incredibly valuable - it has provided me with a lot to consider in terms of the area of commercial law I would like to specialise in but it has definitely informed my decision (which I have made during this placement) to pursue a career in commercial law rather than private client work.
I was reimbursed for expenses for the induction day in London. I thought this was a generous package.
Yes - some of the opportunities were provided others were sought after, but because everybody is so friendly it was easy to meet and chat to people.
They were enjoyable. It was good to have a couple of social event opportunities where I could let my hair down a little.
Yes, there seems to be a lot of different charity-related events going on which is brilliant.
Yes, absolutely.
