About You
The two week insight programme was so fulfilling in such a short amount of time. Learning new skills and meeting new people made being in a school that much more enjoyable. The second week in the school was the best part of the programme and gave me a realistic insight into the life of a teacher
Teach First were and are amazing! They value their vision and the people they hope will push it forward and I felt that throughout the programme. Teach First made me feel valued through how they took care of all of our travel and also sorted out accommodation close to the insight locations.
Teach First supported all of us throughout the whole process. From before the programme all the way till we got to out schools and had our assessment on the last day. I got continuous guidance and support throughout the insight programme which helped me to feel comfortable and grow in my skill set.
The skills I’ve gained from the programme will help me in my future with my degree, as I study psychology sessions such as the one on Unconscious Bias were amazing to be a part of and get to understand how it can seep into any environment even in the classroom
The Company
The insight programme was very well structured and planned out. However I do feel like with all the knowledge mad information we were given they could have made the programme a bit longer, both the first and second week, as the first week could have done with 1 or 2 extra days so the sessions could be more spread out. While the second week could have been even a week longer as being immersed in a school was so valuable.
Insight was just that, INSIGHTFUL. But it was also a bag of laughs. Hannah was hilarious and all the participants were lovely which made spending two weeks with them a breeze, I had an amazing time and wouldn’t have started my summer any other way this year. I feel like I had fun and did something valuable all at the same time
Teach First put alot of effort and time into putting together such an amazing programme. The skills this two week insight programme has given me will be useful beyond ghe confines of Teach First and the insight programme, but for presentations, interviews, teaching and many other environments. I’m beyond grateful
Everything Else
Teach First are very generous and pay £500 for the programme participation while also fully covering accommodation costs, booking extended distances of travel and rembursing travel paid for during the programme. Teachers in my school were even shooked to here we were getting paid when the value of the experience was more than enough
There were many opportunities to meet others partners such as people from IRIS, RARE, In2Sciene, Accenture and Teach First Ambassadors either still in teaching or in other companies. We had ghe chance to ask questions and speak to them after their session. We always were given the chance to network with speakers.
The way the days were set up, we always had ample time to network both professionally and socially. Between and after sessions we had a good amount of time to network with each other and speaks. Then at the accommodation or at the pub after the day was done we were able to network socially and get to know each other and our motivations better
I would 100% recommend this programme to a friend. It is an amazing way to spend two weeks. Gaining valuable skills, meeting new people, learning about the inequities in schools across the nation, going into schools, actually teaching a lesson and having made a difference within a few days is an amazing feeling that I would recommend someone else to also be a part of
