    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • There has been a lot of positives but a few negatives as well. The main positives are the people you work with slowly become like family and becomes a great place to work at and to socialise. HOWEVER the hours at certain branches especially the one I worked at have been crazy and you work quite unsociable hours. A lot of things are glorified in the job such as providing pick up and how good it is? At the end of a day it’s a taxi service but throughout the internship we are told how good it is for us to do them. The risk department is very one sided, for example in training you are told not to drive vehicles ‘category D’ or higher and to say no to a manger if they do ask you. However in reality when a manager is very busy and the branch is getting very busy and stresssful the last thing you want to do is say no you don’t want to do that, using phone while driving is an example, in training you are simply told not to use it and your managers will understand if you tell them however the amount of phone you HAVE to use on the job is crazy, from maps, to answering calls and a lot of other stuff as they get different talks sfor you to do while your on the toad. There are a lot of other stuff that enterprise does but cover it up by glorify a task and the importance of it. As a community and individual people are all good and helpful but the job and tasks it self sometimes are abit too much in terms of what we are asked to do and if it aligns with ethics. Overall a lot of skills were learned but also you can see the true colours of enterprise while working and they aren’t all good hence a 4/10. 4 for some of the benefits but the low score because there are some serious negatives. For example a lot of favouritism in the branch. E.g. a person works here for 6 months and is very loud and social and is favourited by the manager however someone been here for more then a year and a half and knows a lot More of the business doesn’t get the same opportunity because they want to use that guy as an example to show how promotions are quick in this business but it’s not fair.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • In terms of a team and the people you work with it’s a great community and a great place to work and socialise at. We are all Similar age and share the same jokes and act as a family and people are valued, however people do get more valued then others which can be demotivating for other people and you can see when people are more favouritsied

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • A lot of help given when you attend the training sessions in the regional office, a lot of help was given initially by management and supervisors however as months went by this dropped and dropped and more people joined and concentration on your self drops a lot which is demotivating and seems like you are in a comfortable position and don’t have that clear path to progress

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This is heavily dependent on the branch however working in a city centre branch you are get very very busy and hours used to range from 0730 till 1930 or from 1200 till 0000 on lates which meant the whole day was gone and could not do anything else in the day

    1/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility is given, this is a quite good skill to have as it gives you a good skill of priotising tasks etc, you have to basically run a business with your colleagues and this internship is hands on with a lot of various tasks to do and sometimes also managing a team

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The actual qualifications provided in the internship such as MQI are not transferable and you learn a lot about the business which is strictly for the business however generic skills are really strengthened such as teamwork, communication, sales, customer service, Prioritising tasks, B2B marketing, time management and leadership so overall it was worth it

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Most of the time it is okay/average however on stressful moments it seems like there is a lot of tension in the office, you can stay calm however sometimes the managers do get really stressed and portray their feelings to the whole team which is demotivating but you do get to socialise and have a good laugh in the office as a team as well

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • In terms of structure and training it was a very good setup and there was a clear path given for progression initially, organisation by the head office was really good and all the staff there are really helpful and kind, no real errors in terms of organisation of the work placement and how everything is introduced

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Initial investment was really good however as the months went by it dropped gradually and gradually so the investment was good to an extent as it wasn’t consistent but a lot of help is given and good tools are given as well, again this is mainly done by headoffice and colleagues in the branch, managers in the branch do have a lot on their plate so can not invest as much time

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • In terms of balancing a working life with a personal life it seems quite hard with this current job, they do get better as you progress however because of my previous comments and how the company glorifies certain tasks etc I won’t be coming back to work here, but it has been a worthy internship and I would like to try out different roles and jobs

    1/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Social life isn’t too good with the working hours however there are events held by the managers and certain points and they are good social gatherings and the atmosphere within colleagues are good as well and working alongside them is great as well

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was told initially I could not commute from cove try even though so many other staff members do therefore I was told to get sccomdation and managed to get student accomdation which did take a lot of my salary

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Didn’t really get to experience nightlife in this job maybe twice however not any worthy memories at the moment

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There has been a few available however with the hours worked it does get difficult to attend

    3/5
