  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Management was always prepared to set a side time to guide me through my daily and weekly objectives. I felt that they were very hands on and saw that because I took my placement seriously they wanted to push me further and give me more responsibilities. Everyone was very approachable.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was occupied throughout a full days work everyday. It was a fast paced environment and as a result everybody was busy. There were some peak periods during my time here which meant some periods were slightly busier than normal but I was always given support by management o make sure I was coping.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a manageable workload and if I wanted more to do I could ask for it. My daily tasks ranged from supporting with any admin tasks and paper work to more process driven work. I was able to manage my workload during my whole time here at Hays.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I felt like I took away some really useful life experience in preparation for work life after I finish studies. I also felt that I was supported in getting great quality information if I needed it for any of my studies. The opportunities I got to network I felt were valuable for possible future contacts.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was very open; I felt like there was an open door policy. Everyone seemed very approachable and on-board with my purpose of being there. There was a good balance of professional and personal conversations within the team which made it easier to settle in and feel like I could get on with everybody.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I think it was well organised. From start to finish my journey was structured and clear. I had many opportunities to find out more about the company. My start here from invite to organising payment and official forms was also well organised, had no problems regarding those matters at any stage.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I know that the company has a bonus return scheme which is already a plus. I fell like the company engages in recognising employee potential and would aid in helping to find a prospect that best suits the individuals career choices. The company is also dedicated to providing training whilst working.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were a handful of interns where I worked so the social scene was pretty good, we were encouraged to get to know each other. We did manage to organise some outings but not everyone lived close by. Sometimes we would have an occasional , coffee break or lunch together

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Everybody knows that central areas can be on the expensive side, however there are reasonable options if you do your research and budget correctly. The fact that I lived not far from the office helped as well. Socialising costs got a little expensive but i chose my moments and didn't go out constantly.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The city I worked in has a an array of things to do so there was no chance to get bored. There were great transport connections so could easily get around and go to lots of places and f you did your research there were lots of free things to do and events.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few people in the team that enjoyed sports so yes there were opportunities for colleagues to go and keep fit together. The office also had its own sport facilities which was a great option for anyone coming in or wanting to come in for an early training session.
