The Role
Working at Sellafield was a fantastic experience and I was Able to work on projects I would never otherwise be able to.
All colleagues of whom I worked with were very knowledgable and made myself feel welcomed and enjoyed passing on valuable information helping me develop.
My supervisors were fantastic, allowing me to work at times individually to test myself but also there to help if needed.
First few weeks were slowish as it is a nuclear site and security is priority. Once settled in there is plenty to do, if there is a slow day then take It upon yourself you reach out to people asking for jobs.
I was treated as if I was a graduate which was very rewarding. Involved in very important projects and given support when needed on top of regular meetings with manager.
Its hard to understand why you learn what you learn at university, however I was able to put some of my knowledge to use and I believe it was helped my greatly in my final year when relating work to the real world.
The Company
Everyone in each department I was in were very friendly and approachable.
At first it was slow, but once settled in was organised.
I was able to gain my EngTech from one year. They greatly believe in personal development and will push you to complete competences and hit objectives.
Future employment with the company is good, providing you put the work in.
The Culture
The industrial placement students all got along and went out for socials now and then. Graduates also get involved.
Cheap living.
Not a lot of clubs however there is lots of bars and pubs.
If you like the outside then there is stuff to get involved in.
