The Role
I learned a lot about the job of site manager. I improved my technical and relational skills. It was not an easy job, because the daily rythm was accented; but that's why it was a very rewarding and formative experience.
They were very kind and professionnal with me. During all the internship, relationships with my colleagues have always been good and friendly. I was always willing to learn and do new tasks, and that was well appreciated.
They were often available to help me and explain to me my new tasks. My supervisor often checked my work at the beginning to help me ; then I was able to be on my own and I had her trust. They all helped me a lot to improve my English (French is my first language).
I was often very busy all the day. I arrived before 8am and I used to leave between 6-7pm, sometimes later. But I was not forced to do it, I was there because I wanted to. And I was aware before the beginning of this internship that the rythm would be "hard".
At the beginning I had not much responsability,. When I was enougth ready to do my tasks on my own, my supervisors gave me more responsabilities. I had the feeling to be really useful for the site.
It helped me to better consider my futur job. Thanks to that internship I know a lot of things about the management of a work site, and I have new technical skills. It will help me for my next intership in design office. I had also improved my english, which is very important for my studies and beyond.
The Company
It depends the teams. On my side it was really cool, friendly and professionnal. I think It was like that in many teams. But because of some issues on site, the atmosphere was often tense. It was also tense between some teams.
The introduction to the site was really quick. But in general, it was well organised.
I'm not sure to understand the meaning of this question... During the internship I had to do some "e-learning" with a minimum score. It was on "how does the company work", "security", "bribery",...
National Travel
really appealing because the company is involved in many huge work sites / projects
The Culture
Our colleagues were quite young (30-35 years old), so the communication was easy, and we used to go out together, having a drink, etc
high cost of living but really great place to socialise
It was amazing, especially for students like me. And it was easy to come back home safely
bowling, cinemas, salsa bar, soccer... It was in a very dynamic aera
