    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship with Accenture. I was given the opportunities to both learn and contribute on a daily basis. The role enabled me to establish strong bonds and relationships with other analysts in our team as we worked together to derive cost saving efficiencies for the supply chain of a major UK retailer.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • During my eight week internship, I felt extremely valued and was a key part of the team. Before starting the project, I was welcomed by the managing director who provided me with context before enrolling on the project. When on the project, my colleagues were able to trust me a delegate a variety of tasks towards me.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Prior to being enrolled on the project, I was provided of context over progress on the project so far and expectations for me when working on the projects. This was particularly helpful as I was able to immediately add value and contribute by undertaking tasks which were delegated by my colleagues.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The internship with Accenture provided me with several transferable skills. For instance, I am now much more comfortable using complex Excel functions to undertake analysis of data from a variety of sources. In addition, I have the learnt the importance of being able to translate complex analysis into clear and concise slides which were used as final deliverables to the client.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • In the office, there was an atmosphere of positivity and optimism, even when the project became challenging or problems arised. By spending a majority of my working hours on a client site, I was able to establish a close bond with my team in the office and away from the office.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The eight week internship was structured very well. The first week was an induction where I was able to meet the other interns as well as undertake a hypothetical business challenge. For the following seven weeks, I was enrolled in a strategy project where the structure of the project was made clear to me by my line manager.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Accenture invested plenty of time during the first induction week to ensure that interns had the required skill set to ensure that interns were able to contribute to the project straight away. For example, interns spent a day undertaking advanced Excel training to ensure we were equipped to undertake in depth analysis on our projects.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future opportunities were made clear to me during feedback sessions with my line manager and in the exit interviews with the Recruitment team. Following the feedback sessions and exit interviews, I was provided with a graduate offer where the next steps for my own personal development were made clear to me. There are clear opportunities to advance and improve at Accenture through the graduate scheme which was very appealing for me.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was very good amongst the fellow interns. At the end of the induction week, a social event was organised by the Recruitment team which was great end to an interesting week. It was difficult to keep in touch with the other interns after this as we were situated on projects around the UK but a leaving drinks/catch-up was organised for the end our internship.

  • As previously outlined, there were opportunities to interact with the other interns at events at the beginning and end of our internship. On my project, there were also opportunities to socialize with my colleagues after work by having group dinners at hotels and other restaurants or having celebratory dinners for colleague birthdays .
