    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The people were fantastic to work with providing me with support and taking the time to teach me things that I didnt know. Due to the speciality of the internship it could be confusing at stages and some parts werent necessarily related to my degree so could be confusing but overall it was an interesting and insightful experience

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Very supportive and helped to create an enjoyable working environment

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Sometimes it could be very busy on site but in calm moments my supervisor always checked on me and helped me whenever I asked

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Some days can be quieter than others due to the nature of work at a power station and partially due to my lack of interest in the tasks given but it was all helpful experience

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Oversight was required along with verification because if something went wrong in what I was doing it could cause an incident but I was given as much responsibility as they were able

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt a lot about how I learn and how I approach tasks which will help with assignments and exams but also in my future career where I will know what I am good at already

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Breaks were taken to ensure no one worked too hard and everyone was chatty and inclusive

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Due to the security clearance issues there were some parts that got complicated but this was not my employers fault

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I have training that will be valid for three years if I wish to come back and security clearance. All of this will be helpful for a job at any location within this strand of EDF

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are other options I am pursuing but is definitely an option with the possibility of different locations

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I wasnt there very long but lunch was always eaten together and there were regular small socials such as movies etc to get to know them better

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Kent is a relatively expensive place compared to my university area but my house share was good value for money so it was a balance

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Didnt take too much advantage of it as my friends were back home so I went back regularly but the town itself and surrounding area was said to be good

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • With the other graduates and placement students yes but at work people live quite far from each other in some cases

    3/5
