  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • There was a real sense that colleagues valued me during my internship. All members of staff, no matter how senior, treated me with respect in both our interactions but also in the work and responsibilities that they entrusted to me.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Every single day and with every task I was given support and guidance by my line manager and the management within the team. Nothing was ever a problem, and both the team management and HR were friendly and responsive when I asked for guidance or clarification.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was given a rewarding mixture of long term projects and short term tasks to work on from my line manager and my team. The projects were challenging but achievable - stretching us and enabling us to grow and learn. Furthermore, there were plenty of events organised by the intern leadership so that we gained a wide overview of the company, as well as in depth specialised knowledge via our team.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was impressed with how much responsibility I was given as an intern. I was given projects and tasks which were often directly used in both internal and external matters. This level of responsibility reflected the level of respect which colleagues and management had towards me as an intern - evoking a real feeling of being entrusted and valued.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There is no doubt that the skills I learned during the internship will help me in my future studies and work-life. These skills and insight will serve as a solid foundation for me to approach my final year at university, my professional life and my own personal learning.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in my office was pleasant, comfortable but also hard working. There was a real sense of determination and motivation within the team's culture, but crucially there was also a time and place for informality, fun - allowing interpersonal relationships to grow and thrive.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised, from those organising the internship itself to those in my team, who understood exactly what the internship programme was and what my role in the team would be. It is clear that the internship as a whole had been thoroughly thought out, planned and well executed. The beginning was perfect in terms of seamlessly integrating us into the company and into teams, and this set the tone for the rest of the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was very impressed with how much the company invested into and valued us as interns. A wide range of senior members of staff interacted, informed and ultimately improved us in the form of group presentations, speaker series' and a general happiness to informally meet for coffee in order to develop invaluable interpersonal relationships.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • It was made clear to us from the very beginning, and maintained throughout that Willis Towers Watson is a company where an incredibly diverse range of career-paths are possible. The company is respectful and flexible when it comes to matters such as changing or enhancing career paths, and has a real sense of empathy and humanity in the way that it treats staff. This is exactly what I would look for in a company.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There was a good social scene amongst interns and colleagues. The tone was set in this area through a social organised by the company within the induction period. This allowed the interns to get to know each other on a more personal level, developing better relationships and gelling as a group.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As the business is located in the very heart of the City of London, and especially in the heart of the London Insurance Market, there is a wide range of high quality restaurants, cafes and bars in the immediate vicinity. The prices ranged, but colleagues are happy to share the local gems with interns - therefore socialising and living during the day was enjoyable and surprisingly affordable.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are a wide range of pubs, bars and restaurants nearby - especially as the company is situated right next to the famous Leadenhall Market. This made the nightlife enjoyable as the immediate vicinity had a lively atmosphere and a real social scene.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were often team drinks organised, summer events and social events taking place outside of work hours. It is clear that a job at Willis Towers Watson would involve the possibility of getting involved in so much outside of the office.
