    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement. Firstly the induction was the best one I have participated in. HR were always extremely supportive. There are so many opportunities to try new things whether it be a project or society, mental health ally training, other trainings. The people are also extremely lovely and helpful.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues. The work that you do is always seen as very important to the delivery of the project. Everyone is very respectful and always willing to take time out of their day to help you, so this make you feel valued. Accenture value you as they invest so much in you and your development, even as an intern.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • You are given so much support by HR for any queires you have about non-project related questions. You have the support of a schedular who is very helpful in helping you find a project that is the best for you at the time and for your development. Accenture is very supportive.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Being busy varied throughout the duration of the project because it depended where you were at with each project. Normally my first weeks were classic working hours but towards the end of the project the hours would get more. I was never bored, and the longer hours were always manageable.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility. I was trusted with being the only full time employee on my first project which was very good for my progress and the client was very happy with my work. You can see all the work you do at Accenture really affects the outcome of the project.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so many soft and hard skills. The soft skills I have learnt are communication and organisation. Because you work in different teams my skills in these areas developed significantly. I also learnt a lot more on my excel and PowerPoint skills as well as learning a particular topic.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is extremely uplifting and pleasant. Everyone in the firm is willing to help you as the majority of employees were once in your position as an analyst. I have never had any issues with anyone and the fact that everyone was so approachable made my time very good.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The most organised company I have had an internship with. The induction was incredibly well structured, the efficiency and approach to sorting out admin tasks such as equipment and feedback processes were slick and very effective. It was structured so each manager you had was able to give you a review.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested so much into us as interns. We got training in the first week were we went to an external training company to improve on our excel skills which was important in our roles. We also had a wealth of online training and in class training to do.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The prospects are very appealing because there is a clear career path which we can take. Unlike most organisations where you can only progress once your manager has progressed or left, accenture progress you if they feel your actions show you deserve it. It creates for a lot of ambition and motivation.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had a great social scene when all the interns were together in the same area. If I was away at client site I wouldn’t see the interns but accenture put on as many events as they could so we could bond with the other placement people quickly. I enjoyed it a lot.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so I did not have to pay for living expenses but the cost of working in London is quite expensive. The lunches are between £5-£10. Although if you are out of London this is likely to be less, but accenture will cover dinner out of London.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London has the best nightlife. There is so much to do from cocktail bars to pubs to clubs, you are never stuck for options. I went out in Oxford Circus area quite a lot or ate in Covent Garden. We had quite a lot of intern parties which I went to.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes the societies that accenture provide are incredible and range from badminton to football. There is so much to do in terms of networking or creating events to raise awareness of a charity or to get a guest speaker. There are also opportunities to meet more senior people in the company.
