Absolutely LOVED and enjoyed the 3 weeks vac scheme. I met fantastic people from all offices, made amazing friends with fellow interns, built great network with professionals within the firm and get tons of brilliant opportunities to learn and grow my career prospect. Definitely recommend DLA Piper to anyone who wants to get exposure to life in a huge giant friendly international law firm!
I feel 100% valued and supported during my time with DLA Piper. The graduate recruitment team/HR is simple amazing, very supportive and helpful in answering our queries. My line manager, trainee (buddy), partners, associates and other support staffs in the firm are also extremely helpful and supportive throughout, they really made me feel really welcomed and valued as a team member during my time with the firm.
I received tremedous support during the vac scheme, from the HR, as well as my line manager, buddy, and other legal staffs within the firm. They are all really patience in answering my queries, and willing to spend extra time to make me better understand the firm. In terms of guidance, I get real ongoing work during my work experience, which is really rewarding and intellectually challenging. Anyway, I get guidance and constructive feedback throughout the work, which is fantastic!
The top three skills that I have developed during this vacation scheme include:
1. Meticulous attention to details
2. Interpersonal skills
3. Time management skills
The work experience definitely reinforce my interest to become a commercial lawyer within an international law firm, and I would recommend DLA Piper to anyone who has similar aspiration to me because of the quality of work in DLA and the extremely friendly and supportive culture!
The 3 weeks vac scheme is meticulously planned, and very well structured and organised.
The first week is a fantastic induction week in London, where we were given invaluable opportunities to network with people from the firm as well as our peers, and listened to fanatstic insights and talk given by the partners and CEO of DLA Piper.
The next two weeks are made up of work experience at the respective chosen offices, where interns were given real tasks. It is amazing how DLA put together video conferences and connect people from different offices (UK, Hong Kong and for insight sessions everyday
The general atmosphere is extremely friendly and supportive. I am being greeted with lovely smiles every morning, and carefree chat during lunch time, and of course, you are expected to do work to a high standard during work hours. But overall, it has been great and I had an amazing time here!
DLA Piper invested A LOT per interns, I would say at least 3-4k per interns to cover our salary, accomodation, food, transport, social and many others. I have never been to a vacation scheme so well organised and so generous in making the interns feel welcomed and valued, DLA really put in a lot of efforts and investments in tyring to help us make the best out of the vacation scheme.
It is brilliant that interns were offered the opportunity to seat in two different departments, and get real work and constructive feedback from both. We also have talks from practice areas leaders every day, which is fantastic in allowing us to better understand each department and DLA Piper as a whole.
The vacation scheme opened my eyes to the friendly, supportive culture of the firm. I did my vacation scheme in the Liverpool office, and everyone is simply so lovely and friendly, and I didn't feel stress at all (apart from the last day where DLA tells you the TC outcome face-to-face).
It has been a highly valuable experience for me in reinforcing my interest to become a commercial lawyer in an international law firm. This is the best amd most rewarding work experience I ever had, and one which I will never forget.
We were paid a very good salary for the three weeks (£325 per week), and we get reimbursement for everything (accomodation, transport, food). The investment the firm made in interns is extremely generous.
There are tons of great opportunities for networking events, dinner and social drinks sessions during the vac scheme. I also speak with people from different departments during the work experience and everyone is simply so friendly and patience in assising me and making sure I have a good time here, which is highly appreciated.
The networking/social event opportunities were simply brilliant. Too good to complaint. We were simply being spoilt in these three weeks, made many new good friends, and simply the BEST work experience ever!
Yes, I did. They have many social, charity and sports events beyond work, which is great! We even watched the Worldcup semi-finals together at Camp and Furnace as part of our social, with tickets and food paid by the firm!!
Definitely, 100% I would recommend DLA Piper to my friend. The vac scheme is simply AWESOME!!!
