    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoying it so far. The energy industry is a unique and buzzing one to work in, and the amount I've been able to learn has been brilliant.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • This has improved as time has gone on. At the start I wasnt very busy and felt invisible at times, but now I have so much I am responsible for and I feel like everyone knows who I am.

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was always keen to help me learn and provide guidance. Only reason it wasn't perfect is that often people are too busy to help right away, but they are always happy to help when they can.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • A good balance. As time went on I had more to do, so it maybe started quietly, but it settled at a good level and I never felt overworked.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility for my own little projects to work on, but never felt responsible for anything majorly important.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Definitely helped me to learn about the kind of thing I could do after graduating. The crossover between my degree and my job wasnt huge, but the skills I gained were extremely useful for the future (presenting, excel skills etc)

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Relaxed, friendly and convivial. Great!

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • No set structure coming in, but this was good because I was allowed to work on what I was interested in. I was also checked on to see if I was settled and enjoying my placement.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Helped me to learn and gain skills in areas that were important, particularly excel.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I think I would enjoy working for this company. The friendliness in the office is the main reason.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Was only made aware of other interns four weeks in, and even then they worked in different departments and so didn't really get to know them.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Average for living in a major city outside of london. As expected.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Brighton has a great nightlife!

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • None so far.

    3/5
