    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed working with a number of different people. The outdoors can be challenging in the bad weather and not ideal. The opportunities provided are great for college graduates and those doing internships. I enjoyed learning about how a business is run and in a field that is different. I never thought about doing rental so it was fun.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everybody welcomes new staff at enterprise. Most people all start from college and have stuff in common and experiences to share. Managers encourage you to do well on a daily basis and thank you for going that extra mile. If you're having a bad day somebody will put a smile on your face.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Managers send motivational messages and help you improve. Assistant managers work closely with interns and Mt's to get phases and skills done. I have been given good guidance in terms of development and I am on my way to getting my grill done. My phases and skills were done fairly quick with the support of managers.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Summer time is very busy, from having 300 customers on a day. When we work efficiently it helps us get thought the day and keep customers happy. In winter when we didn't have much customers daily I still felt there was stuff to do, like pre contact and admin work.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My development was put in my own hands. I was given more responsibility as I progressed. I have been helping to run the National pre contact team with the help of my colleagues. When new staff joined I helped them to learn and shadow me along the way, showing them that sales and service come hand in hand.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The customer service skills I have acquired will stay with me forever. It's one thing that helps make a business. From being organized to ensuring work is done to high standards will help me when I go back to college and finish my degree. Management is what I study and the skills I've learned will definitely help my future career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Generally there was a good atmosphere around the office. There is definitely stress at times when tight on cars or having a lot of customers come at once. With the help of everybody encouraging each other, it makes it easier to work long shifts. Managers would do competitions to help keep the momentum up! There is always a bit of craic during shifts.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was very well organized. I started off shadowing others to learn how everything works. The set up to get the internship was well set out and has worked throughout. I was given a run through of how the organization works in my branch interview, which gave me an idea of what the daily routine was like.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Training provided at the airport was helpful and well invested. I went though phases with managers one by one. Each phase helped me learn about different aspects. When my phases were done I passed my skills and now preparing for my grill, which will help me for future when I go for assistant manager. However. the training at head office has been postponed.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Development at enterprise has huge opportunities. Your career is in your own hands. Once you move up there is so many opportunities to work in different fields. Salary improves greatly as you climb the ladder. You can easily move to different branches or work with enterprise abroad if you wish, gaining a lot of experience.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, everybody is very young and we all start off as an intern or management trainee. If we hit our targets we get a staff night out, all paid for. It's great having good colleagues who are easy to get along with. You're not stuck in an office by yourself.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • As I'm close to the area I work in, I live at home and drive in. Petrol doesn't cost much and I can cook at home. The airport isn't the cheapest but there's a McDonalds. There's a great social atmosphere amongst staff and you meet a lot of friendly travelers!

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • For staff nights out we would head into the city center, which is about half an hour away. You could easily meet up with friends or colleagues after work. Because of its busy location, nightlife is great. There is a pub right across the road for food or drinks and Swords is only down the road.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There is quite some opportunities to get involved in programs through work. You can volunteer or participate in events such as mini marathon with colleagues. Yes, hours are long but you have flexi time with the range of shifts. You could go for a run before a late shift or even meet up with friends in the evening after an early shift. Days off are typically together which gives you a nice rest.
