    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I truly enjoyed my time on the Norton Rose Fulbright First Step Scheme. I felt that I got a good insight into both the firm and commercial law and learnt a great deal that will be useful to my continuing journey to becoming a solicitor.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was sitting in a team who made me feel very valued during the scheme. Everyone who I worked with was welcoming and answered any and all questions I had. Additionally, I was given work to complete and was taken along to other events, such as client drinks.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Each attendee of the scheme was given a trainee buddy who was there to help and support us each step of the way. My trainee buddy was always there to answer any questions and help me through the work I had to do. I also felt that I could go to a number of different people if I required help.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I received a really deep insight into the banking department and learnt a number of useful things about banking and finance in England and America which will be useful in interviews and applications and in increasing my commercial awareness. I also gained a good knowledge of the sort of work trainees carry out which helped me to better understand the skills that I need to develop for a career in law.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • We were given a timetable before the scheme, and throughout the week this was well kept. I feel that there was a good mix of work shadowing and other workshops and skill development sessions.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere during the scheme was extremely positive. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful, particularly the team I was sitting with and graduate recruitment. There was also a good atmosphere between the attendees because of social events and icebreakers early on in the scheme.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was given a supervisor and trainee buddy who were solely focused on me, so that the training and assistance I was given were personal to me.

    4/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • I feel like I gained a good understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role in the firm because of the wide exposure I gained to different people and areas. The amount of shadowing time we were given meant that I really got involved with my team and saw what the firm is like on a daily basis for its employees.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The insight gave me a good understanding of the company culture, again because of the wide exposure to different employees. Additionally, I was given the opportunity to attend societies run by the firm, such as the choir, which helped to see the less work-based aspects of the firm.

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Although I had already been strongly considering a career in commercial law, the insight scheme helped me affirm this prospect.

  • The social events were very well planned and fun and really helped everyone to get to know each other and the firm.
