    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the vacation scheme. Not only did I gain invaluable insight into the firm, but I also made great friends with the other students, all of whom I am still in touch with today. I developed skills during the 2 weeks at the firm that have assisted me beyond the scheme itself.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was made to feel as though I was a trainee of the firm rather than merely a vacation scheme student. Everyone was extremely welcoming. The vacation scheme students were even invited to the firm’s annual Christmas party which was a bonus!

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The mentors assigned to me were fantastic! They were both incredibly welcoming and friendly. They provided helpful interview tips as well as giving a realistic account of life at the firm.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Time management was a skill I developed during the scheme. Meeting deadlines whilst ensuring the work was of a high standard was vital. This is a skill that has assisted me beyond the scheme.

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was extremely well structured. It was the right balance of social events and work. All of the vacation scheme students were great friends by the end of the 2 weeks, and all of us are still in contact!

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great. The firm’s environment is hard-working but also relaxed, which ensures a stimulating and productive working atmosphere.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We were given many talks by members of the firm on pivotal and central topics. This provided us with a basic understanding of the key issues that lawyers face and how they might address them.

  • Everyone I met provided me with a realistic account of life at the firm. They were all honest and were also interested in my hopes for the future and what I expected to gain from a job.

  • The firm had scheduled numerous social and networking events for the vacation scheme students. A highlight was attending the firm's annual Christmas party where I met many employees of the firm.

  • I never felt as though I was merely a vacation scheme. I felt welcomed and extremely relaxed. Everyone was very friendly.

  • The employees were quite keen to talk about the activities outside of work. The netball team particularly appealed to me.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. It is the perfect springboard to a career in law. Not only is it enjoyable, but it is also extremely informative.
