About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the vacation scheme. Not only did I gain invaluable insight into the firm, but I also made great friends with the other students, all of whom I am still in touch with today. I developed skills during the 2 weeks at the firm that have assisted me beyond the scheme itself.
I was made to feel as though I was a trainee of the firm rather than merely a vacation scheme student. Everyone was extremely welcoming. The vacation scheme students were even invited to the firm’s annual Christmas party which was a bonus!
The mentors assigned to me were fantastic! They were both incredibly welcoming and friendly. They provided helpful interview tips as well as giving a realistic account of life at the firm.
Time management was a skill I developed during the scheme. Meeting deadlines whilst ensuring the work was of a high standard was vital. This is a skill that has assisted me beyond the scheme.
The Company
The insight was extremely well structured. It was the right balance of social events and work. All of the vacation scheme students were great friends by the end of the 2 weeks, and all of us are still in contact!
The atmosphere was great. The firm’s environment is hard-working but also relaxed, which ensures a stimulating and productive working atmosphere.
We were given many talks by members of the firm on pivotal and central topics. This provided us with a basic understanding of the key issues that lawyers face and how they might address them.
Everyone I met provided me with a realistic account of life at the firm. They were all honest and were also interested in my hopes for the future and what I expected to gain from a job.
Everything Else
The firm had scheduled numerous social and networking events for the vacation scheme students. A highlight was attending the firm's annual Christmas party where I met many employees of the firm.
I never felt as though I was merely a vacation scheme. I felt welcomed and extremely relaxed. Everyone was very friendly.
The employees were quite keen to talk about the activities outside of work. The netball team particularly appealed to me.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. It is the perfect springboard to a career in law. Not only is it enjoyable, but it is also extremely informative.
