The Role
A number of real highlights amongst many more frustrations, difficulties and changes. The intern cohort were a great group of guys.

Good support from manager. 8 week intern project led by a project lead who met us once and a project coordinator who left halfway through with a few days notice.
Lots of work from both longer projects and smaller tasks that arose on a day to day basis. Very difficult to do within stated 9am to 5pm hours so often had to extend.
Allowed to play a big part in some really key projects from quite early on.
Able to build on a number of skills from working in such a large organisation. Project style of working meant able to use many different skills over the 8 weeks.
The Company
Nice group but very quiet and keeping themselves to themselves. A number of groups were very cliquey.
On the evening before our final day, we were told that the follow on programme advertised - which was a key reason for many applying/accepting - no longer existed. HR informed us whilst in a loud bowling alley at around 8:30pm after a number of drinks had been consumed despite then stating it had been known for 3 days and having all of us together in a professional capacity a number of times in the previous days.
Good speaker series with interesting and informative topics. Ability to go to wider industry events and develop knowledge.

The programme to which we applied was scrapped on our penultimate day without our knowledge that it was even under review. No clear information given as to what the new programme would look like just that "we will be emailed".
The Culture
Very good among fellow interns and other companies/groups within the insurance industry. Almost non-existent among team and colleagues.
Central London is always going to be very pricey but that is not the company's fault and something that is obvious to everyone applying.

The insurance industry always has a good number of events going on and various activities to suit most people. Again, in-house opportunities quite cliquey.
