The Role
The internship was really insightful, it was made enjoyable by the people I worked with. The only bad thing would be the working hours, you would often work 6 day weeks and the working hours are 10+ hours a day during the week.
You spend so much time with your work colleagues so it is important that you get on, I have made so many friends since being here and hope to stay in contact with them.
I was given a lot of support and guidance by some of my management. Some managers where better than others at developing and coaching.
At some branches you are busier and others because of the way the staffing works. Some places it is so busy and you are always on the road and don't feel like you have much time to concentrate on other areas of the business, where as in some branches you're not on the road but then this can get boring too so if there was somewhere in between it would be the perfect job.
I was given a lot of responsibility, I was running the business by 8 months in, this is however dependant on the person. You have to want to be given responsibility to get it. Being just an intern I was often left the run the branch and from day one you are a manager so you get to make your own decisions.
All of the skills that I have developed here will help me further with my studies and in future work. You learn so many different areas from one internship. I have gained organisation, financial, marketing and management skills from my internship. I don't know many other internships that offer so many different training/skills all rolled into one.
The Company
It all depends on your manager for part of my internship the atmosphere was very dull, but this was brought up and then there was a change around and so from that point on work was enjoyable and you actually had fun.
Everything from day one was set up excellent, from the training week at the beginning where by a hotel and car was organized for you to training throughout, numerous personal one on ones and meetings to make sure that you have everything you need.
The company gives you the option to develop yourself, if you are motivated then there are numerous opportunities that you can take. in terms of training you would have training classes at head office every few months. In branch some management train you and quite literally go through everything so if you don't know what you are doing or an area of the business they will do on job training. The company invest a lot of time into you and even though you are an intern you are treated the same as graduates and given the same responsibilities.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Enterprise offer you lots of job opportunities for when you return to university, you can work part time at a local branch to your university. You are able to be a campus brand manager helping out at job fairs at your uni. Whilst working for enterprise you are always getting emails about promotions and job vacancies and the best bit is they only promote from within.
The Culture
There wasn't much of a social scene. There was an intern event in London last year which was really good but that didn't happen again this year.
I lived at home during my placement so the cost of living and socializing was cheap as I didn't have to pay rent or bills etc.
Nightlife was good as it was in my home town so could go out in London.
There were numerous work nights out that you got to go to. There wasn't really much time to partake in other activities outside of work as some days you wouldn't finish on time or your working an hour away from home so by the time you get home you don't really want to do anything.
