    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with FDM. Over the 8 weeks I was involved in the daily activities of the sales team and made to feel as part of the company. I was always kept busy and provided with challenging work.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues as I was trusted to complete work myself. They made sure I felt welcome and gave me help when I needed. The company has created a great sense of community and everyone was very friendly.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was provided with support through every step of my journey. I worked within a team, where I had support from my line manager and the other people in the team. I worked very closely with my line manager, therefore I managed to form a close relationship, which made me feel comfortable and able to ask for any help when I needed it. I was also given a mentor during my time. We had weekly meetings on my progress and I was able to go to them with any queries. They have also offered to be a mentor for me through my studies at university.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Within my role I was kept very busy, I worked within the sales team helping with their daily activities and if I ever felt like I didn't have anything to do, work was provided for me straight away to make sure I was kept busy.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given responsibility within my team dealing with daily activities such as possible opportunities that arose for consultants. Taking part in the choosing process and then preparing consultants. This made me feel like my opinion mattered and I felt a part of the company. All interns were also given the responsibility of a group project that we presented to the board of directors in London.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed from this internship will help me in the future as it has prepared me for a professional environment and given me guidance in a career path for the future. I have developed my professional skills, confidence, teamwork and leadership skills here. Which can all help me in my degree but also in the future after graduating.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company helped me in training, by letting me take part in the professional skills and excel training weeks that their trainees within the academy take part in. This was a nice touch as I got to develop my skills in those areas and felt like I was really learning important skills.
