    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Working at CRCC Asia was my first experience at a business firm, previously I had worked only with MPs and NGOs and it is fair to say I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. During my time at CRCC Asia, I learnt about the challenges facing an entrepreneurial SME, and the opportunities that lie ahead.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The staff make you feel at home, and their connections to China, past experiences and commitment to the job will not fail to impress anyone who enters the office. The team is quite young and very receptive to new ideas and projects,

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • There is always support in the company, one's direct supervisors are ready to answer any question, inquiry or doubts as soon as they arise. Furthermore they make sure the interns are comfortable with the projects given to them, and will give the interns constructive feedback after each project.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Interns are given different tasks with varying deadlines to do at any given time, this pattern of task distribution allows the interns to change between the tasks and manage their time effectively.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The company does not hesitate from giving an intern challenging tasks from the beginning; and it is quite exciting when one gets to write a reports and present the recommendations and proposals to the director and the marketing manager.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The basic skills gained during this internship such as desk based research, preparing briefings and reports, events management, office administration, are enduring and transferable skills. Also interns will gain an unrivalled insight into inner working of China and Chinese business culture.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The young team of staff and interns ensures a lively atmosphere in the office, there could not be a dull lunch-time in CRCC Asia's office !

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • With weekly reporting to the supervisors and with a well designed to-do list; there was a sense that one's supervisors had spent time and energy to ensure interns took the most out of the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The staff made sure, the interns had the basic skill set to carry out a given task and when interns lack the skills, experience or necessary confidence the company was ready to assign a supervisor to teach the interns and assess their development in the coming weeks.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London in relatively expensive, but it is the best place in UK to look for employment, many multinationals have their HQs in London and so on average it may cost an intern a bit but the rewards are up for grabs as well.
