    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This has been a fantastic experience. I was given a variety of tasks with a good amount of responsibility.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone in the office is very friendly and made me feel extremely welcome. I was often asked my opinion on initiatives the company was putting into operation, and also had the opportunity to head tasks.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My colleagues were always on hand to answer my questions, and offer advice on my tasks and they were happy to take me through my roles step by step.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I constantly had tasks to do. I often had several tasks on the go at one, which allowed me to vary my work throughout the day.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was often put in a lead position on tasks concerning research and planning, however I did have to confirm things with my superiors before making final decisions. However I felt this was a good policy as it meant receiving instant feedback and gave me the confidence to work without worrying about making serious mistakes.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • My internship has provided me with key skills, particularly in the field of communication, that I was unable to gain at university due to the nature of my degree.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Everyone was always up beat and the atmosphere was always very friendly.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My placement was well organised. The management team were all aware of my workload and were able to ensure that at no point was I overloaded with work, or left with nothing to dao.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company was happy to teach me new skills and give me a good variety of tasks so that I could develop those skills. They were also keen for me to approach them with requests to develop specific skills which they were then able to do.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • As this is a small company, the prospect of gaining a full time position within the company is not high, but I am hope full. However that was never my aim. I saw saw this internship as a good way to gain valuable work experience.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • I had a number of enjoyable nights out with my work colleagues; going out for meals the evenings and eating out together on our lunch breaks.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I was able to stay with relatives, which I meant it was very cheap to live.

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • This is a very happening city, with a fantastic and varied night life.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • As I am in a major city, there a massive number of opportunities for me do things outside of work.
