    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement with Enterprise a lot more than I was expecting. I didn't have much car knowledge/interest going into the year so was a bit nervous about this but it was not an issue at all as there is plenty of training and there is much more to the job than renting cars.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt like a very integral part of the team within my branch and also my area. I was treated and supported exactly the same as the grads that started the same time as me and given the same responsibilities.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I completed the same training and was given exactly the same support as my other colleagues. This included regular training days at head office, regular one to ones with my manager and coffee meetings with heads of departments throughout the year.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was always really busy which made the days go past very quickly. I was never bored or watching the clock. However, some times this meant I did have to work some late nights due to the busy environment and work load.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility during the year and was never lacking new tasks and skills to learn. I was captain of various jobs/tasks during the year and so never got bored and always kept learning and being pushed which I really enjoyed. I felt like my team mates and manager trusted me and supported me throughout so nothing felt daunting.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt so much more than I expected throughout the year. From sales and customer service to logistical planning and management skills. I have experienced lots of challenging and rewarding situations which have taught me transferrable skills I will definitely be able to use and relate to my future career. Although it has been hard work it has been worth it and has given me a good work ethic which will help me drastically going forward into my final year of university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • From the day I started everyone was very welcoming and willing to help me learn and answer all of my questions. The whole of my area was really fun and friendly as well, with socials and a whatsapp group we always posted in with work stuff but also socially. The people in my branch definitely made my time with Enterprise and during training/visiting other branches I have never met anyone unpleasant or not willing to help you out/

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement had a very clear structure and was almost identical to the graduate scheme. We had a trainee folder with different stages to complete with an advised length of 10 months. This included daily skills in the office and also projects and presentations and 2 tests. This was really helpful to track your progress and I really enjoyed working through it and looking back at what I have learnt and how far I have come.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had regular training at head office and also monthly development meetings with our branch manager which was actually valuable and followed through with. This was exactly the same as the other grads and colleagues.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. I am looking to becoming a campus brand manager whilst finishing my degree, so carry on working for Enterprise. I am also seriously considering working for Enterprise after, as I can apply straight away for an assistant manager role due to the training I have already completed, which is a massive incentive.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • We had a few big socials throughout the year, with meals and a night out which were really fun( and all paid for!). The Christmas party was also really good. We also had monthly branch meals to talk through our figures and also have a catch up outside of work which was nice.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home during my placement year so did not have to pay anything for rent etc. If we went out for work meals or coffees etc this was all claimed back as expenses and therefore did not occur any additional costs to myself.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Night life was fine in Oxford.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a few LGBT parades and community work as well as university placement fairs. However, there were no sport leagues or anything like that in the area I worked.
