The vacation scheme was a really good way to get to know the firm. I enjoyed the open day but when I began the vacation scheme I was still a bit sceptic as to the culture of the firm but this was quickly amended. All the staff, whether they are partners, associate, catering and recruitment are really friendly and approachable. I was able to gain an insight into areas of law I had not considered before and was able to work on client matters.
Although I felt valued as an individual, I do feel that sometimes the Liverpool office was left out or left until the end.
I got as much guidance as I asked for. Although thind were explained well, if I was unsure on anything I would ask for clarification and everyone I asked seemed to support this.
Studying the legal practice course gave me an insight into the corporate seat I had in my final week so that was useful as I had studied mergers and acquisitions as well as company law on my LLB.
The structure was really good. The first week in London allowed us all to meet the other students and interact with them. This will be really useful when training as we will know people in other offices.
The atmosphere was really nice. Everyone was really friendly and supportive. Although there were a lot of nerves on the final day, everyone was really supportive.
A lot of time, effort and moneybwas clearly invested in us. Paying for our travel and giving us nightly allowances for food whilst in London as well as all the food they supplied whilst in the office.
It gave me a really good view of the types of work and how work is carried out. It's the best way to identify the life in a firm.
Being able to see first hand the culture was really good as it has helped me to make decisions about my future. The culture is one that aims to help people whilst giving responsibility as well.
Most of the content was appropriate however there were some sessions where we were required to get to know ourselves more which I didn't find as helpful but perhaps this was good for those who had not done law before.
We were paid as well as reimbursed for expenses
The induction week was the perfect way to network with other students and people working in the London office.
We were able to network between the students in different offices as well as with London partners as we have a meal in a lovely restaurant with them. The Liverpool and Manchester office were also invited to a summer party so not only could we catch up with the students in the other office but we could speak to lawyers from the other office too.
There was a mention of a choir but not a lot was told to us other than groups for LGBT.
Definitely! Not only is it good experience for yourself in terms of your cv but getting to make new friends was a bonus as well.
