    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • This year has been very valuable to me, I have learned a great amount and had a lot of exposure to the business. There have been times where I have had to deal with a large workload, and occasional work that isn't quite as rewarding as other parts - but all in all, I have enjoyed my year.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Overall, my colleagues have treated me very well and incorporated me wholeheartedly into the team as if I was a full-time working professional.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Though I worked with my team virtually during most of my placement, I had an incredible amount of guidance and support from my managers. The initial 2 week handover was incredibly valuable for getting my up to speed with the roll, and my manager helped me consistently through the year with any difficulties I faced.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Taking over from two intern rolls consolidated into one did prove difficult and fairly taxing at the start, but once I was adept in handling my day to day tasks - my daily work balance improved substantially. I am often busy, but to a good level that keeps me satisfied and never bored.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was the only intern within my team, and as such - had responsibility for several recurring tasks that were completely under my control. Thus, it was entirely my responsibility to ensure that I got these things done. I was given space to take my own initiative on tasks, and all of my views and opinions on different tasks/deliverables were taken into account seriously.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills and work ethic I have learned through the roll have been incredibly valuable to me, with regards to education and personal life. The experience gained in marking, collaboration, enablement, and driving sales has been great - and I have used these to start up my own business during the course of the year (something I definitely wouldn't have been able to do without this experience!)

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was productive and professional. The upstairs area can seem daunting at first, but you soon fit in and will easily meet new people just by the hot-desking system that is in place.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well. My year was well structured, and I had responsibilities outlined for me from the start to the end of the year.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was trained very well with regards to my roll and relevant skills. I did not receive as much training outside of this, though admittedly did not push for further learning as I was already fully engaged in my roll!

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • National Travel

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Working from home

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are many future employment prospects that are intriguing. Though currently I am aiming to gain further experience in a more creative environment outside of IBM.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The social scene was very prevalent in London with the other placement students. If you want to engage with it, it will be there!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive, but in my opinion - worth it.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London - what can you expect?

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • 5/5
