The Role
Some of the best three months of my life! The experience was very enriching, both educationally and culturally.
I was part of a team of 6 people and my views and opinions were respected.
Each intern was given a Student Mentor. In my experience my Student Mentor was very good, offering help and advice whenever it was needed
There was a very good work life balance at Infosys. I never had to work past 6pm and had many opportunities to have a great social life outside of work.
I was given lots of independence to research my project. I worked manly by my self and was allowed to explore areas which were of particular interest to me
Good life skills: team work, managing expectations and tackling problems. The particular work that I did will not help me in my degree, although the soft skills will stand me in good stead for the rest of my life.
The Company
Large open plan office away from the rest of my work team. Not a great atmosphere
Very well organized. Infosys organized housing, transport and an interesting project for me.
Not a huge amount of personal training, however interns did get the opportunity to interact with extremely important members of the company, including the Chairman, CEO and Director.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Subsidised/Company Gym
International Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
Infosys would be a superb future employer, although I may apply to work in the UK or US, rather than India.
The Culture
Amazing social scene, for the three months that I was interning I did something with friends from the program almost every night. A group of interns traveled around India almost every weekend, I went on 9 weekend trips with friends from the program.
Amazing value for money, as you might expect in India. Travel, food and accommodation were very cheap meaning that I enjoyed a very comfortable standard of living.
The nightlife was good and bad. We had to opportunity to visit amazing clubs and restaurants due to the increased standard of living that interns enjoyed in India, however all clubs and restaurants have to close at 11.30pm in Bangalore (by strictly enforced laws) so night outs were essentially 'evening outs'.
There are loads of fitness classes run on the Infosys site including yoga, tennis matches and bollywood dance workshops. There was a business plan competition, which interns were encouraged to enter. Some interns also had the opportunity to visit rural parts of India to get involved in some of Infosys's corporate responsibility programs
