    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The FCA Spring week was a great experience to learn more about the work of the FCA and the consumers that it represents. The FCA showed its self not only as a regulatory body that acts with integrity but also as an employer who values diversity, inclusion and the continual development of its staff.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I definitely felt valued during my time at the FCA, the speakers we attentive an knowledgeable and were willing to explain and answer questions. There was a continual emphasis on placing us as potential employees and there was a focus on applying for the Summer Internship Programme. The FCA ssemed to care about our individual career as we looked at continual development following graduation through international secondments and the Msc Financial Regulation Programme.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was plenty of guidance and support, we heard from and networked with recent graduates to learning about their experiences. We worked on Competency based interview skills and looked at presentation skills and how to produced an effect presentation. We we also guided through the application and recruitment process for the Summer Internship Programme..

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The further development of my presentation skills will be a big help to me with my degree and following my studies. I feel that I have now gained the skills to produce an effective presentation and enhanced my confidence in presenting. I also feel that meeting new people and working together as a team has increased my confidence and my ability to work with others.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight week was very well structured. We had a daily timetable with a good mix of listening, talking and hands on tasks. There were sufficient breaks and opportunities to network. The days were busy, interesting and informative and the time flew! Each task ran to the scheduled time slot and began and ended at the specified time.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • There was a great atmosphere during Spring week, we were a diverse group, studying a range of degrees from different universities across the country. Everyone was friendly and eager to get to know each other. During the tasks, there was a good team attitude, we all helped each other and everyone was supportive.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The FCA invested 4 full days of their time and experience in us. We heard from interesting speakers and learnt much about the company. We gained and developed new skills and increased our confidence. The FCA is continuing to invest in us through encouraging us to apply for the Summer Internship Programme and Graduate Scheme. As an addition lunch was provided and travel costs were reimbursed.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The FCA provided very clear details on the work that they carry out and the full time roles within the company. Guest speakers explained the work they undertook and the opportunities for career progression. We also meet recent graduate entrants and learnt about their journey within the FCA and details of their typical day.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The Spring week insight gave very clear information on diversity and inclusiveness culture within the FCA. It is evident that the FCA embrace the person and the individual talent that they bring and understand that a diverse workforce is positive. The insight also showed the FCA as a company of sustainability who are continually looking to reduce their impact on the environment. They are also a company of community engagement supporting volunteering and charity.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Prior to Spring week I knew very little about the FCA and it was very interesting to learn more about the company, their responsibilities and the work they carry out and how this impacts on economic stability as well as the individuals financial confidence. It was also interesting to learn the value that the FCA places on their employees development and the programmes in place to enable them to reach their potential.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • As this was an insight Spring week event I was not expecting any reimbursement. However lunch was provided and travel costs were reimbursed. I was happy with this.


  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were plenty of opportunities for networking and meeting employees of the company. The recent graduates and longer term employees we met were friendly and genuinely pleased to be talking to us about their work and positive experience of the FCA. We have contact details to continue to keep in touch.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking opportunities were relaxed, fun and informative. Everyone was friendly and willing to share their story of working at the FCA.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • There are a number of networking groups and opportunities to become involved in volunteering and charity support.

  • Yes definitely.
