  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement with Caterpillar and would recommend it to any undergraduate.

  • You are directly integrated into the team which allows for you to bond well with them.

  • The management structure is brilliant and allows for you to develop as an undergraduate.

  • As a placement student you were treated as any long term employee and given a set of deliverables during your time with Caterpillar.

  • You were responsible for your own projects and their success . When you had issues you had support around which could help you overcome these.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Over the past 10 months I have learnt a lot of the Manufacturing Engineering environment and hope that the skills I have learnt can carrying my forward with my career.

  • The atmosphere was good and it allowed you to open up to any member of the team.

  • The placement was organised well with the appropriate support structures in place

  • Some development opportunities have been suggested me and I have completed them such as 6 sigma green belt training.

  • Caterpillar runs a very good graduate scheme which can be entered from completing a good placement year with them.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Various placement and graduate events are run by the YPUK (young professionals UK) team at Caterpillar.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area is quite expensive for social events and living.

  • Peterborough nightlife is ok. Could be better, could be worse.
