    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • Although on a daily basis, sometimes it would seem like a struggle, overall the job was enjoyable

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • The people that I worked with were lovely, and made me feel like a valued member of the team. Although on placement I was treated in exactly the same way as all other employees

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • My colleagues, managers and area managers, and everyone and head office were always more than willing to help, as everyone at the company starts at the same level, so everyone knows what you are going through and are able to answer any questions or help with your training folder

    • Some days were busier than others, but working at one of the busier branches meant that some days were tough

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • Throughout my placement, but especially after working through my training folder earnt me more responsibility, until I was running the branch on an almost daily basis

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • I learnt a range of management skills which complement my degree, as well as well as real work experience

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The people that I worked with made the job more enjoyable, even on busy days there was always a friendly atmosphere in the office

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • The training scheme is very well organised, although the target is to complete it within 12 months, you work through it at your own pace, with training classes along the way. But I completed my folder in 8 months, so if you are willing to put the work in it is possible

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • Training and development is one of the company's core values, so although sometimes it may not seem like the most important thing to be done, especially on busy days, if you stay focused your colleagues and managers will help you out

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • I will be attending careers fayres back at my uni with the company, and have been offered a position to work part time in my last year at uni, and have been asked if I will go back to the company after my degree

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • working long hours with colleagues meant you get to know everyone really well. Nights out were rare but when we did go out, we had a brilliant time. marketing events were good fun too

    • Although we didn't get to socialise often due to the hours that we worked, when we went on company nights out, everything was paid for
