The Role
All of the work I was assigned to was very interesting, the employees were all lovely to work with and there were lots of social events to get involved with.
A fair amount of the work I completed was sent to clients and I was materially helping on the projects that I was assigned to.
Each of the interns was assigned a buddy and a line manager. Mine were both very helpful and for all other enquiries and issues, there were admin assistants available and eager to help. In addition, if we had project specific questions or issues the associates and even the project managers were very helpful and supportive.
I was assigned to one Life insurance project and one P&C insurance project. The work from these two projects filled the majority of my time and the brief lulls in which I didn't have anything specific to do, I was able to spend some time completing the intern specific tasks, compliance training and further researching new terms and products that I had become aware of.
Work that I did was sent to clients on many occasions (though obviously it was checked first). In addition, as the internship progressed, I was entrusted with updating model inputs, setting up model runs and testing models completely independently.
The skills I developed aren't particularly relevant to my Mathematics and Economics Degree but they will be invaluable when looking for or working in a graduate position.
The Company
Good on the whole, the other employees didn't mind a chat about sports or life in general but everyone also got on with their work.
Very well organised. We were assigned to projects, had line managers and buddies ready to hep us out immediately and we had people we could contact if we wanted additional work. Furthermore there were many training sessions set up over the 6 weeks to help break up the continuity of working full time and to educate and inform us about the firm and the sector.
A fair amount, we were given relevant training on Excel and VBA as well as some company product specific training. From there, further training depended on the projects we were working on and the the software we were working with.

Very appealing, I would love to work for WTW. Each of the interns gave a presentation on the last day of our internship and hopefully I will hear back in the coming weeks as to whether or not I have been offered a full time graduate position.
The Culture
Fairly good, regular Friday pub lunches as well as a few after work drinks (usually on Fridays)
fairly high as it was central London but I am at LSE and so I was able to stay at the flat I rent for university. This made the commute in an easy 15 minute walk and I knew about prices in the area already as LSE is only down the road from the Holborn office.
Central London so a wide range of options from massive clubs like fabric (not far away) to bars, pubs, restaurants and many other activities.
On the whole I only attended drinks and other similar social events though I know that there was a croquet evening for the inters at the Reigate office. Also, I know that the graduates have a work football team and get involved in other social activities.
