The Role
The job with Vauxhall exceeded my expectations. I enjoyed the role a lot and was impressed with the real responsibility I was given.
The department I worked in was very friendly and all staff made us feel part of the team.
Excellent support was given by management, and we were assigned a tutor to help with support and guidance.
Always had work to be getting on with, whether it be frequent Ad-hoc tasks or project based.
I was responsible for a lot during my placement.
I had the chance to develop a lot of skills including communication, initiative and teamwork. These are sure to help in my final year at University.
The Company
The office environment was professional, and there were other placement students to work with.
Vauxhall have ran the programme for a long time and you can see this by how well it is set up.
At the start of placement we had a handover period in which we participated in a lot of different training.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Vauxhall is a fantastic company to work for and the graduate roles are well placed with great responsibility.
The Culture
There were a large number of undergraduates, and we always had social events each weekend. Whether in Luton itself, of further afield in Milton Keynes, Watford or London.
Luton is reasonable to live in. Housing can be as little as £250 per month and food/drink is ok.
Luton itself is ok for nightlife, with a few nightclubs to choose from. Bars and restaurants are available, and it is close to London (30 Mins on train).
I was able to volunteer to help at numerous events, from Warehouse open days to track days at Silverstone.
