The Role
I found everyone to be really friendly. The company treats it's employees really well. Everyone was always helpful and very welcoming.
Rated 9/10 I was generally treated very well from my colleagues. I was left to get on with things, but could always ask for help if needed.
I was taught and shown how to do tasks as they came up.
Sometimes it was busy, other times I was bored with nothing to do, depending on what was going on at the time.
I was sometimes given a high level of responsibilty for some work. But I sometimes felt I rarely did the same tasks as the normal engineers. I never had to design anything for example. Too much of the work was admin type things that a non engineer could have done.
Too much of the work was admin type things that a non engineer could have done. Howether I did gain some useful pratical skills in particullar soldering, fault diagnoses, scope use, and report writing.
The Company
Everyone got on really well and worked together as a team. Work got done and yet people could still have a laugh now and then
The induction period was thorough. Although during the first few weeks I was left with very little to do.
I went on a surface mount soldering course for 3 days which was very useful. I was taught how to use equipment and how to do tasks as they came up
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Many engineers started there as placement students
The Culture
The students and other engineers often went to pubs and beer festivals. Many go for a pub lunch on a friday.
was expensive in town but more local places were reasonable.
You had to travel a short distance to find nightlife. Silsden had some ok pubs. Lots of people went to Leeds on the train but it could be expensive.
There were beer festivals, a works BBQ, some people went rock climbing, robotics club, some people went cycling.
