    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed learning new skills, and finding out about aspects of the company which I had never before considered. However at times I did feel as though I wasn't equipt to handle all situations I faced within the company due to a lack of training in certain areas.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I feel that because of the little amount of time I have spent here I didn't form many relationships with people around the department. We were supported well by some individuals within the department however I feel that some did not understand the purpose of us being here and why we were given certain oppurtunities which they were not.

    2/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Support regarding certain aspects of the job was very good. At times it did feel as though we had to go through a phase of trial and error with situations to which we were not familiar. This can be seen as both a positive and negative point as it was good to learn from experiences we had never before gone through, but bad in the fact that at times we did not have the support and skills necessary to provide the best end result.

    3/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As we were given our own personal workload and goals to achieve I found that most of the time I was busy and happy to always have something to do. Sometimes I did feel that the goals we were set were unachievable and it did put on extra pressure which I did not feel helped us to perform at our best with such a heavy workload.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Due to having our own individual workload we were given a lot of responsiblity, as our decisions impacted on the profits of the company as a whole. We were given decisions to make constantly on a day to dat basis and the responsibility of this helped me to strive to achieve the best results I possibly could.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As this was the first job I have had I feel that I have gained many transferrable skills which will assist me in both careers in the future and my remaining time in education. My organisational skills have improved as well as my communication skills. Before starting my job here I found the idea of talking on the phone to someone regarding business (to which I was unfamiliar) very daunting, however now I make many calls a day all of which I feel comfortable with and prepared for. I have also become familiar with many database and spreadsheet systems and feel that I have gained a beneficial skill for life. Due to the heavy workload I have also found that organising my time has been very important and I have improved greatly in doing so.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere at work I generally found quite positive. There is a quite competetive nature amongst staff which is always encouraging and never seems to be negative. I found that we were often rewarded for doing well and encouraged when there was room for improvement by most staff.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My time at this placement was very well organised. We went through 1 week of training before we began on the phones which I felt aided me greatly when it came to beginning work on my own. At times I felt that more support could have been given in my 2nd and 3rd weeks here as at that time I still was not overly confident at facing certain conversations I had to have on my own.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In the first week I felt as though we were trained very well and the aspects of the job we needed we were introduced to. I feel that the training we had could have been developed more when it came to actually putting into practise what we had learnt, as certain calls do not always go as expected on paper and I felt unprepared to deal with some situations which at times knocked my confidence.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There seems to be a lot of oppurtunities within the company as a whole which are very appealing and I would look at in future. We have been shown all the different departments which help to make the company run, all of which I found interesting and would like to look into more to see if they would be well suited to me.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Within the work place I found all my fellow placement colleagues very friendly, helpful and fun to work with. When any of us had any sort of difficulty there was usually someone who could help and would be willing to. The people I was on my placement with are the people I have spent most of my time here with and have formed good working relationships with.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area is reasonably cheap to work and socialise in.

    5/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I am not of an appropriate age to enjoy the nightlife scene, YET.

    1/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I found that there were many social activities outside of work, however most of these involved drinking at pubs and clubs. All of which I was not able to go to due to age restriction.
