About You
The firm had a really welcoming atmosphere - the graduate recruitment team particularly put in a huge amount of effort to ensure there was a good balance between work, socialising and information about the firm.
I thought that all the trainees and grad recruitment staff put a lot of effort into making us feel valued, although I felt as though there wasn't enough time for us to be hugely useful to the trainees.
Everyone was more than happy to answer my (endless) questions, and we had some really useful talks from a partner, an associate, grad recruitment and an external speaker
I think that the information will be really useful when it comes to interviews and applications as the advice was really focussed and comprehensive
The Company
I really enjoyed the balance of work and social, but I think I perhaps would have preferred being in one department over the two days so that I could have been of more use to the trainees! Having said that, experiencing two was also useful.
The general atmosphere was really good, the people were easy to get along with and the staff were brilliant
There was a really great range of talks which really helped us all get a stronger grasp on interview techniques and we even had an external speaker help us with 'our personal brand'
It gave me a really good insight into what the culture of the firm is like, and has definitely shown me that I would love to work there.
Everyone there was really friendly and gave, what seemed to be, honest answers - nobody was trying to make out the firm was all sunshine and roses all the time, but they emphasised how great the vast majority of people are and how that could make the less good bits - the long hours, for example - a lot more bearable!
The scheme definitely helped confirm to me that I want to pursue a career in commercial law, althought I was fairly sure of this already - now it has confirmed to me that I would love to pursue that career with Linklaters specifically
Everything Else
I was reimbursed travel expenses and put up in hotel accommodation for the night which was a real lifesaver for me!
Lots of different trainees were around at different points, the grad recruitment people were constantly around to chat and introduce us to people, and I was sat in an office with a partner. Everyone was incredibly happy to chat, and all the trainees that I worked with gave me their contact cards and said that if I have any questions to get in touch
I really enjoyed the social event! We iced cupcakes, made pasta and made cocktails, which meant that it was a bit different but that everyone really got involved
There was a part of one of the grad recruitment slideshows which listed the range of activities available which was really informative
Yes, I think it gave a brilliant experience of a firm that I am now certain that I want to apply for further down the line.
