The Role
Very satisfying with a lot of good things that were taught. I felt like i was making an impact and doing something useful instead of just watching what someone else does. It was always engaging and challenging with lots to do and I could not find any areas that I could complain about. The experience and the atmosphere was great and I really thought that I was contributing.
Everyone was very helpful and treated you like any other member of the business.
My supervisor presented me with a list of goals and objectives while i was also given lots of other jobs to get on with by other members of the team. It was easy to communicate with them when they were out of the office and my supervisor gave me a lot of freedom to get on with the work while also giving me other interesting things to do to keep my day to day schedule fresh and interesting.
Work would come in large amounts at variable times which meant that i had to work hard to meet certain deadlines but when there was not much to do, other members of the team were happy enough to send some of their workflow my way which i was happy to do which meant that i always had something that i could be doing.
I was given many projects that I worked on alone. I did research and created results for new business that were then sent to certain UK Offices that were not picking up many new companies to insure. I also helped find new areas in the market that we had not really looked into which meant that i had to travel to and from the London and Glasgow offices to take part in meetings with the results that i had researched. I really felt that i was given a lot of responsibility that i found very enjoyable and engaging.
I felt that my placement really did give me a great example of life working in business in the city and I cherish the experience and equally benefit from all the trainning and the skills that i learnt there. It really made me want to do it all again and i feel it had really built up my confidence and my abilities to a new level.
The Company
Everyone was very nice and it was a very social office
The placement was set up very well offereing a good overall insight into the company and its goals, gave the interns projects together which meant that we worked with people from other areas of the comapny other than our own, and the whole experience made you feel very comftable right away.
Everything that I felt that I should know was taught to me during the placement.
Subsidised Canteen
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
I really feel like I could work for them and will be applying for the graduate scheme and hope that my acheivements during my intership should really help my chances.
The Culture
The many projects that we did together made us work and communicate a lot. It made us learn a lot about each other and we found ourselves going out together outside of work a common weekly event.
I socialised a lot within the area and it was very easy to. London is not the cheapest place to socialise and have a good time in but it is one of the best places.
It was very good fun working in the heart of the city as there are always things to do.
A lot of the things that we did were intiated by us. But the initial communication and socials were strongly encouraged in the intership program.
