The Role
I enjoyed my work to a great extent. I learned a lot during my placement and not just from my day to day activities but from being able to experience a wider view of how large businesses work, seeing how my work fitted into company goals and netwroking with very socialble colleagues.
I felt very valued by my colleagues because my opinions were taken onboard during meetings and discussions. There were times I would make a silly comment due to lack of experience but they would make me feel like its okay and i would only get better as i contiue to progress. I participated in work socials with my team mates and felt like part of the team and not jusy a bystander.
One of the best things about my placement was the amount of support available to employees. Anytime I struggled with anything there was always someone I could turn to, they would then either take thier time to explain it to me or guide me to places where I can find the answer.
I was very busy on a daily basis but i was still able to balance other life activities . There were times were I would work overtime hours and this might be a daunting experience to many but in hindsight it has improved my work ethic and the way I appraoch tasks.
I was given a signifacant amount of responsibility. At one point another colleague and I were in charge of a mass prpduction change happening in one of the companies. This can be scary at first because you dont want to make mistakes but with a little self belif, it will all be alright.
The skills I have learned will greatly assist me in my degree and in life. I now expect a higher quality of work from my self, I have improved my philosophy on what it takes to run great businesses and lastly i can wake up at 6 am and feel like im ready to GO !. All this and more helps me improve my capabilites which in turn improve my results
The Company
I worked with two clients and was greatful to experience the different styles. One had a somewhat flexible atmosphere, almost like you were home while the other was the more formal atmosphere. In general both clients consisted of people who were very friendly, helpful and professional.
It was well organised, there were events scheduled, buddys and counsellors assigned to us, support lines provided through line managers. We were placed in different work streams and had the ability to switch over. It was a nice set up
The company invests greatly in thier employees. They have online portals and resources that cover any area of business or technology one would like to learn. For example even though I was fulfilling a technology related role, I took a course on business and this improved my understanding which lead to an improved performace.

Future employment prospects are very appealing at the moment. I was able to secure a job with the company after my placement and I am more than grateful to be given the oppourtunity to come back.
The Culture
Yes there was, events were set up for placement students. We would also set up some events ourselves in order to get together. Chances that you'll get to know every placement student are slim but the ones you get to know end up being long term friends
It was affordable especially since I worked outside london, the company covers most of the costs for you. Regardless of that with a little money management in place it shouldn't be a problem.
Personally I am not much of a nightlife person. However i have been on some night outs and they have been fun and exciting. The best part is you get to see a lot of people in a open state and conversate more with them hence improving work relationships.
Yes there were, during my placement i participated in 3 charity events. There are also external activities advertised in the company which any employee can participate in.
