About You
I really enjoyed the one week winter vacation scheme at the firm. It provided me with a great insight as to what life as a trainee is actually like. I was able to chat to various trainees about their experiences at the firm, the challenges they faced and the things they enjoyed the most. I was given great exposure to more senior lawyers, sitting in an office with an associate and observing his work the whole week. The amount of social activities organised by the graduate recruitment team was excellent and allowed all the vac scheme participants to get to know each knowledge well in a short period of time.
I feel quite valued during my time at the firm. I was made feel very welcome at all times in whatever I was doing, whether it be chatting with the vac schemers, the trainees or the lawyers.
I received a very good level of support during the insight. We were provided with a detailed timetable of everything we were doing so we knew in advanced. If I had any questions or problems the graduate recruitment team were extremely helpful. Furthermore, when I was unsure on a point of law the associate was only too enthusiastic to help me.
I gained a great experience of the life of a trainee in an international city law firm. My time management skills were further developed, prioritizing tasks.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. We were provided with a detailed timetable on the first day of the week which outlined what we were doing each day. If any changes were made to this timetable, we were all notified promptly and in good time by email.
The general atmosphere was welcoming, helpful and friendly. This created an excellent environment for learning and discussion.
The overall experience of the insight was an investment made by the firm, which created an invaluable experience for all of the vac schemers.
The insight provided a very helpful view of what working as a trainee solicitor will entail. We had regular contact with several trainees so could observe them and ask questions. Furthermore, sitting in an office with an associate allowed observation of their day to day work.
The insight was invaluable in understanding the company culture. The culture of the firm is extremely friendly and supportive, whilst completing international cutting edge work.
The insight only confirmed for me the desire to become an international commercial lawyer.
Everything Else
There were plenty of opportunities at social events in the evening for networking with employees at the firm.
The social events were excellent. Every night there was a social event organised for us, each providing an opportunity to chat to trainees and lawyers and learn more about the firm in a more relaxed setting.
There was plenty of information on activities that employees can get involved in outside of work, all you had to do was ask. We were also given a pro bono talk on everything the firm does which was very insightful.
I cannot speak highly enough of this insight and would recommend this to anyone interested in pursing a career as an international commercial lawyer.
