    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I absolutely love it, it has given me a real insight to what working life will be like after I graduate from university this summer. It has given me the skills I need to advance my career aswell as making me more confident in applying what I have learnt from university at a more practical level and how the law is used in real life situations.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I haven't been there that long to fully be capable on my own so I still rely on others in my team for help, however when I do the work I can tell they are thankful for it. From day 1 they have made me feel like part of the team which has really made me feel at ease and less daunting they are always there to help whenever I need them. The team environment make my job a lot more enjoyable.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Really good support, the training in the first day was daunting but my team manger over the weeks has really made learning new things easy by repeating certain processes and always being at hand, they have given me good support aswell as 1:1 meetings it has allowed me to remain focus to develop my skills further

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • It varies which is why it is in the middle. I never feel as though I am too busy which is always good as it doesn't mean I have to rush however some days they're is little for me to do and therefore can be at a loose end which does make time go slower. On the other hand on other days it has the perfect balance and time flies by.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The perfect amount, it's enough to feel that you're valued and what you're doing is important for the team but on the other hand it's not so much responsibility that you feel stressed and worried at how important your work is. Only being in one day a week you understand that you won't have the most responsibility and that is what makes me feel comfortable

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • A large amount, it really helps to see want you're studying is used in the real legal world. Things such as phone skills, computing skills has really improved also social skills like how to act within an office and how things are run. It will definetly make me a more confident individual as my first job since leaving university will be a lot less daunting and will give me the skills equipped I need to succeed

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Really good! Everyone is so hard working and therefore that motivates you to do all your work l, but the right level of general chat is enough to make you feel as though the team care and are interested which makes the level of work so much more enjoyable. If no one spoke and there was heavy rules the atmosphere would be far less enjoyable

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well. Everything was set out before I started, organisation was superb everyone knew what my responsibities were and straight away I knew what was expected from me. The the training and organisation ran like clockwork everything was scheduled and I really thought I was valued to be there.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A lot they gave me full training in what ever I needed, they also gave me a lot of time at the start of my placement for any questions or further training in me to progress further. Even today I feel that they still put a lot of time in me being my best and for them to use my skills in a way to help the team out as a whole, and for that I am grateful rather than to be sat on the end with little time it is the complete opposite

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very I would love to stay on in this company. To even be working there now is a real dream as I have grown up wanting to work for shoosmiths. I terms of future employment I don't know fully myself yet what sector of law I wish to go into but j know they are very good at employment and giving out opportunities so it isn't off the cards and I was love to progress my career with shoosmiths in the future but in what area is yet unknown
